When Should You Consume Your Daily Joe?

*All data and pictures courtesy of Lifeboost Coffee.

Hello friends.  As most of you know, I have jumped onto the Lifeboost Coffee train in the last few months..

I did my research on which organic coffee was rated "tops," and Lifeboost consistently hit the top (or very near the top) in most news articles.  I jumped in and ordered a 3-bag subscription to get the best price on a coffee I wasn't even sure I would like.

Lucky for me, the coffee tasted just as good as they promised.  Dr. Charles Livingston did a great job of starting a business based off a clean and sustainable coffee.  To recap, here are some of Lifeboost Coffee's best attributes:

  • Beans are Single Origin to avoid cross contamination of molds, hand selected, high elevation, and shade grown.

  • Main roasts are certified organic; they are third-party tested for mycotoxins, molds, heavy metals, pesticides, and 400 other toxins to ensure the cleanest beans they can find.

  • Beans are stomach-friendly and low-acid, naturally grown to full maturity (ensures the most nutrients entering the bean), sun dried, and gently washed with spring water before roasting.

Today, Lifeboost sent out a blast to e-mail subscribers containing an article about when the best time to consume coffee is during a normal day.  It was so interesting!  Below are a few of the main points I wanted to share from that writing here, and then, when you've finished here, please click on any of my links to read the whole write-up.  It is well worth your time if you are a coffee drinker and lover like me!

  • Sleep is dehydrating; grab a glass of water before you have your first cup of coffee (maybe while you are brewing)!

  • Try waiting three (yes, three) hours after you wake up to have your first cup.  This gives your body time to enjoy your natural energy level (morning levels of cortisol tend to be pretty high).

  • Enjoy afternoon coffee between 1 and 5 p.m.  This gives those afternoon cortisol levels (that spiked between Noon and 1p.m.) time to decrease.

  • Caffeine can stay in the body for up to five hours!  So make sure you stop drinking coffe at least six hours before your planned bed time.

  •  Caffeine in your body can disrupt your sleep.  Caffeine can hold the natural melatonin production back, as well as cause you to have several trips to the bathroom through the overnight.

Have you tried Lifeboost Coffee yet?  I know there are a lot of organic coffees on the market, but I promise you - Lifeboost is seriously one of the best.

Visit the Lifeboost Coffee blog to read entire article this blog post was based off.

Enjoy!

Lifeboost Coffee - A Cleaner, Healthier Coffee

It's been a minute since we have posted on this blog.

I've been busy building an empire (well, striving to...) - a new e-commerce store and website; a new Amazon product; continuing travel agent work; and of course, working full-time for our County school system.  It's a busy life.

But as I'm reading more and more on clean and healthy, whole eating, I'm discovering our coffee habits have to change as well.  To be the best we can be, we need to be drinking shade-grown, organic coffee...

...and that's what led me on the quest to eventually land at Lifeboost Coffee.

If you've heard of Lifeboost, drop us a line or email us.  I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

Here is what the Lifeboost website says about their product, in regards to being clean:  "2% of the coffee in the world meets our standards for purity.  All of our fresh roasted coffee meets the highest quality criteria using our TrustPure process."

And if you aren't familiar with Lifeboost, they were co-founded by Dr. Charles Livingston.  Here is what he says on the Our Story page of their website:

"As a Chiropractic Physician with thousands of hours in nutritional research, I would always tell my patients... "Garbage in equals garbage out" which is an easy way to say that the nutritional building blocks that you feed to your body are what your body will assimilate into healthy cells. And lots of healthy cells become a healthier YOU.

Coffee is no different. Since it is something that 50% of the U.S. puts in their body on a daily basis and it's the #1 source of antioxidants in the U.S., it's Lifeboost's belief that you should put the cleanest source that you can find into your body. For that reason, we use a process called TrustPure which is our roadmap for finding you the healthiest, tastiest, stomach-friendly beans on the planet!

Lifeboost beans are:

  • Single Origin to avoid cross contamination of molds, hand-selected, high elevation, and shade grown.

  • Even though our main roasts are certified organic, we 3rd party test for mycotoxins, molds, heavy metals, pesticides, plus 400 other toxins to ensure you are getting the cleanest beans we can find.

  • Our stomach-friendly, low-acid coffee beans are naturally grown to full maturity (ensures the most nutrients entering the bean), sun dried, and gently washed with spring water before roasting."

Lifeboost is a pricey coffee, but honestly, every clean and organic coffee I researched pretty much cost the same thing.  Lifeboost offers subscriptions, and if you choose one of the multi-bag options with a subscription, the prices drops under $20 a bag.

Lifeboost also offers some incredible flavors that I've not seen anywhere else - whiskey and bourbon!  (I will have to do reviews on those later!)

I'm pretty excited about finding this brand and hope to do a little partnering with them in the future, maybe even offering their products in our e-commerce store.

Here are the three biggest selling points, for me, when choosing Lifeboost:

  1. Third-Party tested for mycotoxins, heavy metals, and over 400 toxins - Lifeboost coffee is mold- and chemical-free, non-GMO, shade grown, fairly traded, and single origin.

  2. Supports people, environment, and wildlife - Lifeboost pays their farmers a fair wage.  The farmers use sustainable farming which protects the environment and wildlife.  Lifeboost donates a percentage of profits to protect the plant and animals that live in their coffee regions.

  3. Free shipping, Easy Returns, and a Guarantee that You Will Love It - Lifeboost offers free shipping on all orders over $50, and they guarantee your satisfaction, refunding you if you’re unhappy.

Old Bisbee Roasters Mexico Blend!

Good morning coffee drinkers!

I have an update from Old Bisbee, and I apologize for not posting in a while.  It's been quite busy around here.

Today's coffee highlight from Old Bisbee is Mexico Huatusco Altura.  From their website:

Mexico Huatusco Altura coffee is sourced from communities near the municipality of Huatusco within the state of Veracruz, Mexico, where there are mountain ranges that provide higher altitudes and ideal climates for cultivating coffee. This coffee is sundried naturally. Feel the brightness!

And, something I really like about this offering is the continued support of coffee growers who have relatively small farms. The vast majority of farms are family-owned with less than 12 acres of land. The coffee harvest typically begins in October and ends in March. The family pride and love that goes into the full cycle from carefully tending the coffee plants, to harvest and post-harvest handling are evident.

The aroma is wonderfully full of sweetened condensed milk and lightly reminiscent of orange blossoms.

In the cup, the body is medium and silky and just perfect. Cherries, cocoa-like chocolate-covered cherries, and creamy pastry to make a dessert in a mug.

Finally, the finish! It's clean and quick, and more creaminess akin to coffee ice cream.  I would pour a shot of this coffee over some ice cream any time.

I love that this coffee is that it is sourced from "family-owned" farms with "less than 12 acres of land."  By buying this coffee blend, you are helping to support families that are doing what they can to survive.

Of course, I also love the way they describe the flavor of this blend, "cocoa-like chocolate-covered cherries," "dessert in a mug."  WHAAA?

This one is on my list to try.  If you try this blend, leave me a comment here on the blog or on one of our social media channels.

Remember these fun facts about Old Bisbee coffee:

  • Club Crema - Exclusive text-only offers
  • Order 2 or more pounds and receive FREE SHIPPING
  • If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with your coffee, they will replace or refund
Enjoy this beautiful Friday out on the porch or deck with your favorite brew!  Until next time...

Discovering Jimmy's Java

Good morning coffee lovers.

Lately, we've been receiving new e-mails from a Florida coffee company called Jimmy's Java.  Have you heard about them?  If note, let me tell you about them.  I always love promoting companies, so here is what I found out about my new discovery.  This is from their website:

A little bit about Jimmy's Java

From the first smell of Jimmy’s Java, you know something is different in your cup.  The rich aroma of organic, single origin coffee is blended and results in an aroma that promises... good things!  Our coffees are artful  blends of 100% Arabica beans that delivers a pleasing drink that sharpens the mind, awakens the spirit, and extends your life.

Our journey starts in 2002 in Boone, NC (although the idea and logo for Jimmy's Java was conceived right here in Cape Coral)!  After a several year run in the mountains, it was time to go where the weather is warm....

From a solid retail foundation at Southwest Florida Farmers Markets, Jimmy's Java has grown to be a dominant player in the Florida Coffee Roasting field.

Sounds good, right?  I've reached out to Jimmy's Java to learn more about them.  I will keep you up to date.  In the meantime, they are running a memorial day sale.  Good time to try them out.

Right now, through Memorial Day, you can honor those who have given their all and save 20% on everything on their website.  They offer coffee as well as coffee-related gifts.

Need a gift for a coffee-loving friend?  Check out their gift section.

If you order from Jimmy's, please leave us a comment here on the blog or on our social media accounts.  I'm so curious about this new-to-me coffee company!

Old Bisbee Roasters: Bali Blue Krishna

Well, we're back (and a little late) with this week's offering from Old Bisbee.  This week they are offering a blend from Bali, and it's their most popular blend:

"What's our most popular coffee?  You probably know the answer to that, because you read the title of this newsletter.  It's Bali Blue Krishna!  This is the coffee just about everyone has been asking for.

Bali Blue Krishna is shocking Indonesian coffee.  It's full of rich fruit aromas and volcanic earthiness.  The aroma is overwhelming;  it's bursting with sweet tobacco, Brazil nuts, and caramelized sugars and chestnuts.  In the cup, the body is deep, earthy, and mysterious.  It's full of baker's chocolate, rich cherry, and notes of bright, overripe plum.  Bali Blue Krishna is a bold, strong, and velvety coffee.

The finish is rich and lingering, with a bold licorice flavor, full of robust cacao.  There's fantastic intense gritty anise spice, reminiscent of Good -n Plenty candies.  This is a stunning coffee, from the heart of Indonesia.

 LIMITED SUPPLY: ORDER NOW!

Did you know that we offer five pound bulk bags?  Freshly roasted and packaged in a zip bag with air valve, you can save two bucks per pound.  Free shipping, too.   Click here to learn more and order!  This is an excellent way to stock up and save.

Our Bali Blue Krishna is sourced from family owned farms located in the Kintamani highlands on the island province of Bali, Indonesia. Coffee is grown in the volcanic soils of Mount Agung along with citrus trees that provide shade and another source of income. Coffee production is typically organized around a Subak Abian, which refers to the ecologically sustainable irrigation systems developed more than 1,000 years ago by Hindu priests who practice Tri Hita Karana (the three sources of prosperity), a philosophy focused on the harmonization between the environment, humans, and God."

Again, another blend I must try - I mean baker's chocolate, cherries, and plum?  I'm in!

Old Bisbee Roasters: Mexico Pluma Finca La Cabaña

This week, Old Bisbee Roasters brings us a brew from Mexico!  Let's find out all about this new brew!

"This week's big premier is coffee from the Oaxaca region of Mexico.  It's outrageously delicious, smooth, and creamy. The farm on which this coffee is grown also grows vanilla orchids - you know, vanilla beans!  Mexico is where vanilla originated.  I thought that was an interesting fact to share with you.

So, let's drink coffee, shall we?  In the nose, I'm getting notes of walnut, mulled cider, and fresh cut wood.  I'm thinking about curling up by the fire already!  In the cup, the body is Big, Bold, and Sweet!  Some notes of orange and cocoa.  The finish is stunning:  Full mouth feel on this one, more cocoa, and the tiniest hint of a fine barrel aged whiskey.  This is an exceptionally smooth drinker - I think it's going to become a favorite for many of you.  You fans of low acid coffees will especially enjoy this mellow cup, so give it a try soon.

Mexico Oaxaca Pluma Finca La Cabaña is sourced from Finca La Cabaña located in the municipality of Pluma Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Mexico.  Finca La Cabaña is owned and operated by Alberto Pérez Mariscal and his family.  Alberto Pérez Mariscal is a third generation coffee farmer carrying on the family legacy started by his grandfather.  Only 150 hectares of the 350 hectare finca have been utilized for coffee cultivation, creating a responsible environmental balance for sustainable organic farming.   Alberto is also cultivating orchids at Finca La Cabaña for the production of vanilla."

I don't know about you, but this coffee sounds DELICIOUS to me!  Orange?  Cocoa?  Walnut, mulled cider, and fresh cut wood?  Where do I sign up?

Old Bisbee Roasters - Uganda Blend!

Time for another blend spotlight from Old Bisbee Roasters.  This time, it's a blend from Uganda!

I love this company.  So many countries, so many coffees...

"We decided this is a good time to have a special coffee.  So, let's return to an old favorite:  Organic coffee from Uganda Sipi Falls.

This is going to rock your socks off.
The nose is full of herbal goodness, like the bergamot in Earl Grey Tea.  I'm already feeling refined and sophisticated.  Then, in the cup, WOW - it's bright and smooth with notes of dark and deep unfiltered honey.  Winnie the Pooh would approve!  Finally, the finish.  The lingering, sweet finish.  Sweet raisins and the feeling of fresh cut clover.  Sweet, smooth, delicious.

All in all, Uganda Sipi Falls  will leave your mouth feeling invigorated!

"This is a freight train of flavor!" - Seth

Uganda RFA UTZ Fully Washed Sipi Falls Grainpro coffee is sourced from family owned farms located in the Bugisu region on the slopes of Mount Elgon in the Kapchorwa district, Uganda.  The Bugisu region is named after the Bugisu people who are indigenous to this area.  The Sipi Falls coffee project, named after a trio of majestic waterfalls, was established in 1999 to strengthen quality coffee production in the region and create a sustainable income for farmers."

 Again, sounds delicious!
